Abstract
A one-dimensional polymer {[Cd-2(mu-bpe)(3)](NO3)(4)}(n) [1, bpe = 1,2 -bis(4-pyridyl)ethane] is prepared; its structure is strikingly charac terised by heptacoordinate Cd-II ions as well as by a unique main fram ework, ba two bpe units bridge two Cd-II ions giving a cyclic closed s tructure which is linked to the next one by another bpe unit.
