Abstract
Reaction of MeNC with anti-B18H22 yields 7-[(MeNH)C(3)N(2)HMe(2)]-anti -B18H20, in which a reductive trimerisation of MeNC via a cluster redo x process gives an unusual imidazole-based carbene, [(MeNH)C(3)N(2)HMe (2)], that is stabilized by coordination to the [anti-B-18] macropolyh edral cluster.(1)
