Abstract
Radiological assessment of ovine brains subjected to experimental guns hot injury was performed using computed tomography. This imaging proce dure enabled precise localisation of the projectile and metal and bony fragments, and depicted parenchymal damage, distortion and displaceme nt of the brain, and skull fractures. Computed tomography scanning was found to be useful in the clinical evaluation of craniocerebral missi le injuries and confirmed the acceptability of the 0.22 calibre rifle and 12-gauge shotgun for the euthanasia of sheep.
