Eb. Arushanian et Bp. Orhii, INFLUENCE OF PINEALECTOMY OF THE CIRCADIA N LOCOMOTOR RHYTHM OF RATS AND ITS SENSITIVITY TO THE HYPNOTIC DRUGS, Zurnal vyssej nervnoj deatelnosti im. I.P. Pavlova, 44(1), 1994, pp. 143-148
In the paper were studied the rats' individual circadian locomotor act
ivity rhythm patterns and their day and night time sensitivity to hexo
barbital sodium and diazepam. Pinealectomy without altering the rhythm
patterns significantly increased their amplitude and enhanced the hyp
notic effect of hexobarbital both in the daytime and at night and that
of diazepam only in the daytime. The animal rhythm patterns and the c
ircadian variations of their sensitivity to the hypnotic drugs were su
ggested to depend on the individual variations of the pineal activity.
