Abstract
A sensitive and simple kinetic turbidimetric method for the determinat ion of escin, based on its inhibitory action on the crystallization of lactose, is presented. Supersaturated solutions of lactose were prepa red by addition of acetone to a stable aqueous lactose solution. The i nduction period of the crystallization process was measured turbidimet rically in the absence and presence of escin. The method was applied t o the determination of escin in pharmaceutical products.
