Abstract
This paper gives a deeper insight into the vibration behaviour of spec imens to which high-power ultrasonics is applied, and follows Part 1 ( Bajons, P. & Fritsch, W., Applied Acoustics, 43 (1994) 113-26). By mea ns of finite element calculations, the distribution of the longitudina l strain and the radial strain in rods and dumb-bells is studied. The results are discussed with respect to practical applications. Finally, limitations in the use of the usually applied one-dimensional approac hes to calculating deformation parameters are pointed out.
