Jd. Goddard, A NOTE ON PATH-DEPENDENT STRAIN MEASURES AND STRAIN JUMPS IN ISOTROPIC SIMPLE MATERIALS, Journal of non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, 54, 1994, pp. 195-199
It is shown here that the method often used for evaluating the discont
inuity in various path-dependent strain measures for the idealized ste
p-strain experiment leads to a violation of certain universal relation
s for isotropic simple fluids and solids. It is further shown how this
difficulty can be avoided by a proper description of such discontinui
ties.
