Abstract
As critical steps in the life cycle of measles virus (MV), the efficie ncy of uptake into and replication in susceptible host cells are gover ned by cellular determinants. Measles virus infections of cells of the human CNS are characterized by particular constraints imposed on vira l transcription and translation attenuating viral gene functions and t hus contributing to the pathogenesis of MV persistence in these cells.
