The isolation and characterization of 11 neo-clerodane diterpenic acid
s, three of them described for the first time is reported. The absolut
e stereochemistry for some of them are determined unambiguously by hem
isynthesis. This work is also an approach to the obtention of highly f
unctionalized diterpenoids from readily available natural products, th
at could be a starting point for a future synthesis of new antifeedant
agents.
