Abstract
A short synthesis of hydroxy-substituted benzo[b]carbazoloquinone cyan amides based on a palladium-promoted oxidative coupling as the key ste p is described. Pyridine hydrochloride has been used for chemoselectiv e cleavage of a methyl ether in the presence of an N-cyano group.
