SWITCHING BEHAVIOR OF THE MITTER-COUPLED PAIR

The emitter-coupled pair still is the core of the fastest circuit-fami lies, the ECL- or CML-schemes. We shortly revisit the static behaviour of the circuit and investigate then its dynamic behaviour when used a s a digital shifter. Taking into account the nonlinear and the dynamic effects of the bipolar transistor we will develop an analytical expre ssion for the delay time that describes the functional dependency upon the circuit- und device parameters.
