Four new amphibian trypanosomes, Trypanosoma midaii, Trypanosoma ampan
ense, Trypanosoma maleisiense, and Trypanosoma bulat were described in
the blood of a Malaysian frog, Rana blythi from Peninsular Malaysia a
nd Sarawak. We examined 190 individuals of the frog and in addition to
four new species, we also detected Trypanosoma rotatorium-type and Tr
ypanosoma chattoni-type. The prevalence of all six species of trypanos
omes in R. blythi in Malaysia was summarized and discussed.
