Kh. Low, AN EQUIVALENT-CENTER METHOD FOR QUICK FREQUENCY-ANALYSIS OF BEAMS CARRYING A CONCENTRATED MASS, Computers & structures, 50(3), 1994, pp. 409-419
This article is concerned with the fundamental frequency of vibrating
beams carrying a concentrated mass at various locations. An equivalent
-center method for obtaining the frequencies of the loaded beams has b
een presented. The generated design curves can be used generally for b
eams with different boundary conditions by introducing the dimensionle
ss parameters. Results show that the equivalent-center weight and freq
uency factors are to evaluate effectively and quickly the fundamental
frequency of a beam carrying a mass at various locations through merel
y the frequency of the center-loaded beam. The weight factor further f
acilitates the process since only a small range of frequencies is requ
ired.
