The crystal and molecular structure Of Co(PY)4012.H2O have been determ
ined from three-dimension X-ray diffraction data collected on a four-c
ircle diffractometer. The compound crystallizes in the P2(1)/n space g
roup with a=0.9361(6), b=1.6278(9), c=1. 3878 (7) nm, beta=94.01 (5)-d
egrees, Z=4. The thermal decomposition process of the compound has als
o been studied using TG and DTG techniques under non-isothermal condit
ion, kinetic parameters were obtained from analyses of the TG and DTG
curves by integral's and differential's methods. The possible reaction
mechanism was suggested by comparision of the kinetic parameters. Its
kinetic equation may be expressed as: dalpha/dt=A.e(-E/RT).3/2 (1-alp
ha)2/3.[1-(1-alpha)1/3]-1 The mathematical expression of the kinetic c
ompensation effect of the thermal decomposion reaction is In A=0.3341E
