Y. Duan et al., GEOMETRY-EFFECTS OIL THE CONCENTRATION AND REACTION-RATE PROFILE IN METHANOL PRODUCTION CATALYST .1. NEGLECTING EXTERNAL DIFFUSION, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 33(9), 1994, pp. 2029-2033
In the low-pressure synthesis of methanol from carbon oxides and hydro
gen over copper-based catalysts, the effect of catalyst pellet geometr
y has been investigated. A model for studying reaction within any suff
iciently symmetrical porous catalyst particle has been also provided.
Fugacity coefficients and compositions are calcd. by using the Redlich
-Kwong-Soave state equation, and the kinetics model announced by Villa
et al. has been used for computing the reaction rates. The reaction i
s considered to proceed within isothermal and isobaric catalyst pellet
s. External diffusion has been neglected.
