Viviparity is reported for the first time in Platyphora quadrisignata
(Germar). Four larval instars were observed during laboratory rearing.
Optimal larval development occurs at 25 degrees C and pupal developme
nt ceases at 30 degrees C. The minimal temperatures at which larval an
d pupal development ceased is 8 degrees C and 8.7 degrees C, respectiv
ely. Viviparity is also noted for the first time in P. sp., prob. fasc
iatomaculata Stal.
