Xf. Chen et al., GENERATION OF SUPERBROADENING VISIBLE SPECTRUM BY PUMPING 2 KINDS OF FIBERS SUCCESSIVELY WITH AN INTENSE LASER, Optics communications, 111(1-2), 1994, pp. 137-140
We report on an experiment on generating a superbroadening spectrum (>
100 nm) by pumping two kinds of fibers (silica fiber and CS2 liquid-c
ore fiber) successively with an intense laser for the first time. We d
emonstrate that self-phase modulation (SPM), stimulated Raman scatteri
ng (SRS) in silica fibers and the efficient amplification through stim
ulated Kerr scattering (SKS), SRS processes in CS2 liquid-core fiber a
re several main mechanisms accounting for the superbroadening. It give
s a useful indication that the technique employing a silica fiber foll
owed by a CS2 liquid-core fiber is a good way to achieve super-broaden
ing spectrum that can be developed for practical uses.
