A magneto-optical visualizer of magnetic fields operating at 10-10(5)
Oe with a spatial resolution of 10 mum is presented. The basic compone
nt is a thin epitaxial ferrite-garnet film with planar anisotropy. The
dynamic range of the device, which is 42 dB, is limited by the range
of an eight-bit ADC and the noise level of the high-frequency line, wh
ich is 42 dB. A set of films with various parameters could be used to
obtain a wider dynamic range. Applications of the device ar discussed.
