Abstract
Magnetostriction transducers of magnetic field have been fabricated by coating multimode optical fibers with nickel. The transducer length i s 30 cm, the thickness of the nickel coating is 140-220 mum, the sensi tivity on the initial portion of the magnetization curve is approximat ely 24 deg/m.Oe. With new phase-shift detectors, an optic-fiber magnet ometer with a sensitivity threshold of approximately 10(-6) Oe can be built around such a transducer.
