The polarographic behaviour and determination of Sb(III) in hypophosph
orous acid solutions of concentrations varying from 0.1 to 5.0 Mdm-3 a
nd T = 25 +/- 0.1-degree-C have been investigated. It was shown that t
he reduction of Sb(III) takes place along a single wave. Kinetic param
eters for the electrochemical reduction of Sb(III) at the DME have bee
n calculated. A scheme for the mechanism of reduction has been deduced
. Simultaneous polarographic determination of Sb(III) in presence of C
u(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) in hypophosphorous acid solutions has
been carried out. The amperometric determination of Sb(III) in sulphu
ric acid-fluoride media has been performed. The KMnO4 was used as a ti
trant using amperometric indication of the end point. The differential
pulse polarographic determination of Sb(III), Pb(II) and in a ternary
mixture has been studied in 0.05 Mdm-3 hypophosphorous acid solution.
