Abstract
A germanosilicate glass graded-index fibre preform thin sample was sub mitted to a wide range of 266nm excitation powers across its core. The resulting 400nm luminescence signal was found to follow the index pro file of the preform at low excitation power and to be bleached at high er power above a certain Ge-concentration threshold. This threshold ch anged to lower Ge-concentration values with higher excitation power.
