Thermoluminescence properties of pure Al2O3 -ceramic discs doped with
some oxides of alkali metals and B were investigated. Two groups of sa
mples were studied: one with a low concentration of B and alkali oxide
s and the other with higher concentration. The first group shows a rel
atively higher stability and better reproducibility for gamma-radiatio
n and neutron-induced TL, which could be utilized in mixed radiation f
ield dosimetry. The main disadvantage of these TL-materials is the rel
atively high rate of signal fading. A simple course of post irradiatio
n heat annealing is proposed to overcome this drawback.
