A. Alrashed et al., POWDER-METALLURGY ROUTE IN PRODUCTION OF ALUMINUM-ALLOY MATRIX PARTICULATE COMPOSITES, Journal de physique. IV, 3(C7), 1993, pp. 1821-1823
Metal matrix composites based on an aluminium alloys were produced by
powder metallurgy route, involved unidirectionally hot pressing under
500 MPa for 15 minutes at temperature about 0.95 Ts [Solidus Temperatu
re]. Metal matrix contains different weight percents of SIC, alpha rAl
(2)O(3), WC and Si3N4 with different particle size. Wear and mechanica
l tests have been carried out on composites, and it was found that abo
ut 90% of wear reduction occured in composite with 30% SIC compared wi
th pressed matrix.
