Abstract
We studied the effect of ozone on the microflora present in Neva water , including microorganisms causing biocorrosion, and on the rate of co rrosion of carbon steel in the tap water of St. Petersburg. The ozoniz ation is shown to kill micromycetes and yeast, but it does not complet ely suppress the vital activity of bacteria. The increased ozonization time does not lead to any noticeable decrease in the concentration of microorganisms, concurrently increasing the corrosion rate of carbon steel.
