Abstract
Research has shown that wheelchair use in long term paraplegia is asso ciated with upper limb pain and degeneration that interferes with the independent performance of activities of daily living. This paper prop oses a model to explain the development of upper limb problems in pers ons with long term paraplegia, and one that will guide in the preventi on and management of this type of long term complication.
