Lyme disease, a tick-transmitted spirochetal illness caused by Borreli
a burgdorferi, usually begins with a characteristic erythema chronicum
migrans accompied by flulike symptoms. This phase may later be follow
ed by meningitis, neuritis, carditis or arthritis. Congenital anormali
ties due to maternal infection during pregnancy have been described. W
e report on a case of a 36-year old V gravida III para. After a normal
pregnancy and a Cesarean section the patient developed postpartal an
acute Lyme arthritis.
