Abstract
Increasingly, health professionals are being called upon to be knowled geable about and to integrate prevention and health promotion into the ir day-to-day practice. Working in partnership with a variety of disci plines and sectors is also an emerging reality in the health field. Th is paper describes a national collaborative strategy development proce ss 'Enhancing Preventative Practices of Health Professionals' that inv olved Health and Welfare Canada and eight national health professional associations. The lessons learned from the process and the documents produced by the initiative are highlighted. Reference is made to relat ed literature from the fields of organizational and community developm ent.
