By condensation reaction of piperazine with formaldehyde and benzylic
alcohol, new compounds have been obtained. The structure of these comp
ounds depends on the molar ratio between the reactants. The IR, UV, H-
1-NMR spectra have shown that the compound obtained at molar ratio = 1
/2/2 has a structure which corresponds to N,N'-bis(benzyloxymethylene)
piperazine. A mechanism for the condensation reaction was proposed.
