The kinetics of the reaction between oppositely charged linear and net
work polyelectrolytes was studied. The rate of transfer of the linear
polyions in an oppositely charged gel is determined by the rate of int
erpolyelectrolyte exchange reactions within a polycomplex layer. The s
orption of a linear polyelectrolyte grows upon increasing the ionic st
rength of the solution and decreasing a degree of polyion dissociation
. The transfer rate of the linear polyelectrolyte depends also on the
molecular characteristics of the penetrant.
