Ta. Korobko et al., THE ROLE OF NONPOLAR INTERACTIONS IN THE REACTIONS OF NONSTOICHIOMETRIC INTERPOLYELECTROLYTE COMPLEXES WITH ANIONIC SURFACTANTS, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 36(2), 1994, pp. 223-228
The competing reactions of substitution of polyanion of sodium polymet
hacrylate, which is involved in water-soluble nonstoichiometric interp
olylectrolyte complex containing alkylated poly(4-vinyl pyridinium cat
ion), with anionic surfactants (sodium caprate, sodium dodecyl sulfate
) were studied by luminescence quenching technique. Equilibrium of the
competing reactions was shown to be primarily controlled by the chemi
cal nature of polycation, in particular, by the presence of hydrophobi
c N-alkyl substituents in polycation chain.
