SEQUENTIAL CONTRAST-ENHANCED MR-IMAGING OF THE PENIS

PURPOSE: To determine the enhancement patterns of the penis at magneti c resonance (MR) imaging. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sequential contrast m aterial-enhanced MR images of the penis in a flaccid state were obtain ed in 16 volunteers (12 with normal penile function and four with erec tile dysfunction). RESULTS: Subjects with normal erectile function sho wed gradual and centrifugal enhancement of the corpora cavernosa, whil e those with erectile dysfunction showed poor enhancement with abnorma l progression. CONCLUSION: Sequential contrast-enhanced MR imaging pro vides additional morphologic information for the evaluation of erectil e dysfunction.
