El. Aptekar et al., THE ROLE OF GAS-PHASE RADICAL REACTIONS IN THE FORMATION OF PRODUCTS OF PROPYLENE CATALYTIC-OXIDATION, Kinetics and catalysis, 35(4), 1994, pp. 532-536
The investigation of the formation of free radicals in the process of
propylene total oxidation over supported oxide catalysts demonstrates
the decrease of their efficiency in the formation of free radicals in
the following order: CoO-MgO > CoO-SiO2 > MgO > MoO(x)-Al2O3 > CoO/Al2
O3. At a low pressure, the consumption of the reactants is not caused
by gas reactions of the radicals generated by the catalyst. The predom
inant process of the disappearance of the radicals is capture by the s
urface, with the formation of chemisorbed species. Their reactions on
the surface lead to the final total oxidation products.
