Abstract
A double phase conjugator is proposed consisting of two thin nonlinear layers with optical nonlinearity of the third order. The phase conjug ation scheme is based on conversion of phase modulation to amplitude m odulation. Threshold conditions are calculated and several methods of lowering the threshold are proposed. A feasibility of using liquid cry stals as thin nonlinear layers is discussed.
