K. Tsurumi, PREPARATION OF PLATINUM SUPPORTED CARBON ELECTROCATALYST USING ALKYNECOMPOUND AND ITS PROPERTIES, Denki Kagaku Oyobi Kogyo Butsuri Kagaku, 62(9), 1994, pp. 876-880
Platinum compounds containing alkyne were supported on carbon powder a
s a platinum precursor, and highly dispersed platinum electrocatalysts
were obtained. The compounds were produced by the reaction of chlorop
latinic acid and hydrazine hydrate with acetylene, or chloroplatinic a
cid and propargyl alcohol. The platinum-propargyl alcohol compound sho
wed low temperature of the thermal decomposition into platinum metal,
and its electrode showed high activity for oxygen reduction in PAFC's
conditions. Specific activities of these electrocatalysts were equal t
o the value of alloy catalysts, and this may suggest a possibility tha
t different surface activities from pure platinum particles are induce
d by the influence of carbon in the precursor.
