Abstract
A 2-year field study conducted at Pune revealed that the application o f 75 kg N + 37.5 kg P2O5/ha significantly increased grain yield of saf flower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) over 25 kg N + 12.5 kg P2O5 and 50 kg N + 25 kg P2O5/ha during 1985-86 and in pooled data. The grain yield of safflower significantly increased with an increase level of plant d ensity. ?he plant density of 225,000 plants/ha could be optimum for ir rigated safflower.
