A field experiment was conducted during 1987 and 1989 at Shillongani t
o study weed management in tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius L.). Manual
weeding at 21 and 35 days after solving resulted in the lowest number
and dry weight of weeds, the highest fibre yield and the highest net
return. Among the herbicides, application df pendimethalin @ 0.75 kg/h
a at 1 day before sowing + manual weeding at 35 days after sowing prov
ed the best, recording the less number and dry weight of weeds and hig
her fibre yield and net return.
