Abstract
During the course of our extensive studies on the molybdenum-tert-buty
lamine base system, we isolated the title compound, [C4H12N](2)[MoO4],
by reaction of stoichiometric amounts of MoO3 and ter t-butylamine in
aqueous media. The asymmetric unit of di-tert-butylammonium molybdate
(VI) consists of two tetrahedral [MoO4](2-) anions and four tert-butyl
ammonium cations. The crystal packing is stabilized by the electrostat
ic interactions and an extensive network of hydrogen contacts involvin
g the O atoms from the anions, and the N atoms and some C atoms of the
cations.
