Abstract
The Fe atom of the title compound, 1-(triphenylsilyl)ferrocene, [Fe(C5 H5){C5H4Si(C6H5)(3)}], is symmetrically bonded to the two cyclopentadi enyl ligands in an eta(5) fashion and the two rings are within 2 degre es of being parallel. The C atoms of the two cyclopentadienyl rings ar e within 1 degrees of being eclipsed and the internal ring angle at th e triphenylsilyl-substituted C atom is 2 degrees smaller than other in ternal ring angles. The triphenylsilyl group occupies a steric volume similar to that of the ferrocenyl group.
