Abstract
The crystal structure consists of monomeric centrosymmetric nearly pla nar molecules. shortest intermolecular distance [C(15)...O(2)' 3.211(6 )Angstrom] indicates the presence of a weak hydrogen bond between a ph enyl ring and a ketone O atom, H(15)...O(2)' (2.60 Angstrom). The O(1) , C(1), C(2), C(5) ketone fragment, the furfurylidene moiety and the a ttached nitrophenyl group are almost in the same plane; their conjugat ion explains the compounds yellow colour.
