A graphic method to optimize the compensator current which is injected
into a network node in order to reduce the harmonic distortion of the
network, for the single-order harmonic problem, is presented. This me
thod is suitable to find out whether a solution of the optimization pr
oblem, even under multiple constraints, exists and, in this case, give
s the approximate optimum. Since this graphic solution is easily execu
ted by computer, it seems to be an attractive and practicable techniqu
e. Its validity and simplicity has been verified by the simulating com
putation for a real simplified 20 kV distribution system.
