Abstract
The photodegradation of taxine B, 1, gave, besides the expected cycliz ation of the 13-oxo-DELTA4(20),11-taxadiene system, reductive cleavage of the nitrogen-carbon bond. The same behaviour was found in other Wi nterstein acid esters, which were photolytically converted to their co rresponding beta-phenylpropionates.
