Jk. Levy et al., DECREASED URINARY CATECHOLAMINES IN A CAT WITH DYSAUTONOMIA, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 205(6), 1994, pp. 842-844
Feline dysautonomia was diagnosed in a 2-year-old cat with a history o
f regurgitation, constipation, mydriasis, and dry eyes. The diagnosis
of parasympathetic and sympathetic failure was confirmed by abnormal p
hysiologic autonomic function tests and decreased urinary catecholamin
e measurements. Despite intensive supportive care, the cat failed to i
mprove and was euthanatized 70 days after the onset of illness. Feline
dysautonomia is rarely reported in the United States, and the cat had
no history of travel to a country where the disease is more prevalent
