A theoretical treatment is given for the phase composition of electrol
ytic cobalt. The existence of two-phase cobalt deposits is attributed
to the adsorption processes that occur in the surface layer. Texture c
orrespondence between two-phase fcc and hcp cobalt is calculated and s
ubstantiated for various singular planes at the early stage of nucleat
ion. The texture formation correlates with the relative amount of alph
a and beta phase cobalt in the coating and the concentration of crysta
l lattice defects for the adsorption-complicated case.
