Abstract
The authors report the use of a sol-gel film as an overlay guide on an integrated optic buried channel waveguide to selectively couple out n ear-infra-red wavelengths. The coupling wavelength is shown to be depe ndent on the thickness and index of the overlay and on the polarisatio n of the guided light.
