Df. Anderson et al., HIGH COUNTING RATE RESISTIVE-PLATE CHAMBER, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 348(2-3), 1994, pp. 324-328
Resistive-glass, parallel-plate chambers are studied in both spark and
avalanche modes. In the avalanche mode rates of over 10(3) s-1 cm-2 a
re achievable with a total collected charge per pulse of 10(8) electro
ns. Operated at low pressure and with secondary-electron emission from
a porous CsI surface, a timing resolution of 600 ps has been measured
. Future improvements are discussed.
