MAGNETISM OF ANTIFERROMAGNETICALLY COUPLED MULTILAYERS

We have calculated, with a Green function method, the magnetization pr ofiles of ferromagnetic multilayers consisting of two different ferrom agnetic materials with antiferromagnetic couplings between the films. For strong coupling constants between the films we find at low tempera tures a lowering of the layer magnetization at the interfaces. The mag netization M(T) of the whole system shows a strong dependence on the c oupling constant J(z) between the films and on the ratio J(2)/J(1) of the coupling constants of the two ferromagnetic materials.
