Te. Krendeleva et Ab. Rubin, STRUCTURAL-FUNCTIONAL ORGANIZATION OF CHL OROPLAST MEMBRANES OF PLANTS WITH A HIGH-SPEED OF FIXATION OF CO2, Biofizika, 39(1), 1994, pp. 5-12
The article is a rewiev of studies on photochemical activity and struc
tural-functional organization of plant tylakoids from growing plants w
ith high speed fixation of CO2. The idea is being developed that dynam
ic structure of membrane is a basis for primary processes regulation b
y plant metabolism. Efficacy of energy transforming mechanism can chan
ge in accordance with energy requirements of plant. <<The strategy>> a
daptation of membrane to high speed dark processes of C metabolism inc
ludes an increase in the content of complexes with reaction centers PS
II, ETC carriers between PC, and quantity of coupled complexes in the
membrane. These changes can be accompanied by a decrease in the size o
f the light-harvesting antenna. Fast changes in the functioning of ETC
are achieved by changes in the speed constants of individual electron
-transporting processes, due to alterations in the conformational stat
e of PPC or some components of ETC.
