Abstract
We calculate the direct average [N] of the number of metastable states in the projection rule neural network by means of the saddle-point me thod. [N] is obtained as a function of the Hamming distance g to a giv en pattern, stability gamma and energy E. The critical storage capacit y of the model is calculated. The examination of the energy dependence of [N] leads to lower bounds for the energies of the spin-glass state s.
