Abstract
Relaxational oscillations in a solid state ring laser operating in a s elf-modulation regime of the first kind are investigated for the first time. It is shown that in this regime the relaxation frequencies are not degenerate over the whole range in which the frequency ''nonrecipr ocity'' varies and their dependence on the parameters of the ring lase r differs substantially from the corresponding dependence in the case of unidirectional generation.
