Abstract
A butterfly-packaged, monolithically integrated DFB with electroabsorp tion modulator is used for repeaterless transmission of 10 Gbit/s NRZ over 107km standard singlemode fibre, with a total dispersion of 1800 ps/nm. The transmission is nondispersion-limited. A single optical fib re amplifier is used, for boosting the power and for simultaneously ge nerating dispersion compensation.
